Larger files take longer to download from the Internet, so it is not a good idea to start downloading with conventional tools. With a Bittorrent client, you can download faster and you can resume the process if it gets interrupted. One of the most popular clients is µTorrent, but if you are looking for a good alternative, you should try qBittorrent. It provides the same functionality, but it is more comfortable and easy to use.

Unless you want to make a donation, you don't have to pay for qBittorrent. The setup file is roughly 6 and a half MB and the installation process does not involve complex options. Besides different Windows editions, the application works on Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2 and FreeBSD.

qBittorrent displays your torrents, on its interface, just like other Bittorrent clients. You can select different filters, on the left side of the window, to show completed, active, inactive and other torrents. If you select a torrent, you can bring up its general details, trackers, peers HTTP sources and its contents, on the lower part of the window. You can start downloading by dragging and dropping a torrent on the interface, adding it with a standard browsing option or by double clicking the torrent file. Once installed, the software will associate itself with torrent files.

The best part about qBittorrent is the fact that it lets you search the web for torrents on its interface. The search function is located on a separate tab and you can find torrents by using keywords and selecting categories. The application supports a good number of search engines, including Vector, BTDigg, Mininova and others. They are listed on a separate window, where you can disable or enable them or install new ones. The search results are displayed fast and you can use different options to access a selected torrent's web page or start downloading its contents.

Besides speed limits, you can also establish alternative limits and switch between them instantly, by clicking an icon, on the lower edge of the interface. The alternative limits can be scheduled as well. Depending on your settings, you can have a higher or lower transfer rate, between certain hours, everyday, on weekdays, weekends or on specific days of the week. In addition, the application provides an RSS reader. You can find it on a separate tab and you just need to specify a feed's URL.

Pros:
You can search for torrents on the software's interface. qBittorrent supports various search engines and you can install new ones as well. It is possible to set up two sets of speed limits and switch from one to another instantly or schedule the alternative limits.

Cons:
Torrents are not listed with certain details, like rating or health.

qBittorrent provides a faster and more comfortable experience, making it an excellent alternative to any Bittorrent client.
